Crossborder mobility of audience and artists
07 Nov 2018

NEXT  is an international art festival on the new territory of Eurométropole Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai and Valenciennes. Six cultural organizations : La rose des vents, Villeneuve d’Asq (FR), Espace Pasolini, Valenciennes ( FR), le Phénix, Scène nationales de Valenciennes (FR), Kunstencentrum BUDA, Kortrijk (BE), Cultuurcentrum Kortrijk (BE), la maison de la culture de Tournai (BE) elaborate an ambitious and international performance program, mixing frontiers.

The festival was born on the common intuition of all founding members (flemish, wallons, french) to share the same vision and artistic sensibility but also a territorial unity and a political project for a cultural metropolis.

To offer the audience the possibility to circulate freely in the metropolis, 30 free shuttles have been organized. An inter-regional and transnational mobility. All performances are also translated in french and dutch.

La Rose des vents decided to honor european creation this season with the performance of polish Marta Górnicka HYMN TO LOVE (a choir mixing national anthem, traditionnal, religious or rap songs) and the discovery of the piece of work of the italian Alessandro Serra MACBETTU (revisiting Macbeth of William Shakespeare).

For its part, the Phenix makes way for artists of the european creation scene (Gurshad Shaheman, Denise Wintsch, Mehdi-Geroges Lahlou) by bringing them an international visibility.
